Round 14

Fastest Practice Lap: 55:07 - 88.25 MPH

Mallory and 19th October - Its going to be wet. It was actual quite nice and warm. Practice was going ok when I was hit by a huge misfire. Some head scratching in the pits didn't solve the problem. Later we discovered a very loose spark plug. The engine ran fine once we had tightened up. The final was run before the heat and because of my limited practice I was placed in the heat.

Heat: Grid Position: 10
Heat: Race Result: Retired

The final was a good race with plenty of action. I watched down at the Esses and enjoyed Bill Burnett and John Stapleton battling for third place which would eventually become the lead. Bill won, his first win. Congratulations Bill.

In the heat, I was expecting to be up near the front and maybe battling for the lead but it all came to zilch. I was happy with my start but when I changed into third the horrendous misfire came back. I waved everyone past and I bundled around for 2 laps seeing if it would get any better. It didn't. So I retired and there ended the 2003 season with a fizz rather than a bang. I wasn't too disappointed, that was the first retirement of the year. We whipped out the engine and Ian shoved it into his boot so he could get started on rebuilding it. I took the car back down South.
